About Us

In March of 1973, a local Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Interest Group met with the South Atlantic Regional Director to formulate plans for organizing a chapter. On Saturday, January 5, 1974, the chartering ceremony was conducted. Those chartering members included: Louisa Watkins, Linda Hall, Debbie Robinson, Yvonne Pickett, Golden Harrison, Ada Stewart, Julia Baum Frazier, Ethel Duren, Mary Williams, Margaret Peters, Mollye A. Robinson, Addie M. Thomas, Amy J. McLester, Mabel Allen, and Christine Lawson. These women had a desire to be identified in the community and to help address the needs of their local community. Throughout the years, the Iota Omega Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated has made tremendous strides in providing service to all mankind in Camden and it's surrounding areas. These great strides include activities involving education, scholarship, economics, healthcare, the arts, and the black family.
What started as a Vision Fair in 1974 through the hearts, minds, and the strength of a few, now 46 years later has blossomed into a treasure; The Iota Omega Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

We believe all women can embrace who they are,
can define their future, and can change the world. The efforts of Iota Omega Omega constitute a priceless part of the global experience in this 21st Century.
